FULLY VETTED

Colt, male, est dob 7/1/22
Miniature Pinscher/Chihuahua mix

Colt is an approximately 2 ½ year old Miniature Pinscher/Chihuahua mix. He is very affectionate and loves people. He gets along with dogs and you can view some of his videos on our FB page: https://www.facebook.com/SAINRescue  We are not sure about cats as he has not been exposed to them; however, he is such a gentle dog that we think he would probably be okay with cats as well. He was pulled from a local city shelter and has been with SAIN Rescue since July. He loves his walks, playing with the other dogs in the home and enjoys his cuddles. Colt is very gentle with the two senior dogs in his foster home and has taken a nurturing role with them. He enjoys sleeping with his foster mom and other dogs but is content to sleep near them. Colt will make it easy on you as he can jump into your lap without you having to pick him up. He has been caught on security camera howling when the foster mom is not home. He doesn’t do it constantly, but it was sweet to see him join in with the foster's senior chihuahua howling. He has not had any accidents in the house since September except once on the first bitterly cold day. The foster said she didn't keep him outside long enough for him to potty. Colt sometimes wears a belly band when his foster mom is out of the home as a precaution but only when she plans to be gone for more than 4 hours. IDEAL HOME for Colt: a house, no condos or townhomes as he may howl some times when all the humans are gone; a canine buddy to play with or just hang with unless a human will be home with him all the time; humans that will be patient with him as he learns their schedule for going out to potty; use a belly band when they are not home until they are confident they have his schedule down (belly bands prevent accidents); prefers humans home but has been okay being left home with the other dogs for up to 7 hours; fenced in yard – Colt loves to run around in the yard and take his time to potty – he needs a human outside with him as he is small enough to easily be prey for hawks, coyotes, etc.… If interested in adopting Colt, please go to https://www.sainrescue.org/contact-us/adoption-application/ and complete the adoption application. You will get a message stating the application was successfully submitted when it is. We can set up a private meet and greet after we receive a completed application. Adopters must live in the State of Illinois and preferably within 50-60 miles of Bartlett.

FULLY VETTED, Delta, approximately 1 1/2 years old Pomeranian/Chihuahua

Delta is a 1 ½ years old, female Pomeranian/Chihuahua mix. She was found as a local stray and pulled from a local city shelter. Delta does well with Colt, the pup she was found with and has been sharing a foster home with; however, these pups can be adopted separately with the right match. Delta does well with the two senior small submissive dogs in the foster home. She has taken on a maternal role with the eldest one. Delta is very affectionate once she knows you. She is housetrained and makes it up to nine hours overnight and at least 6 hours during the day. She has been seen using the potty pad in the kitchen that one of the foster’s senior dogs uses. Delta has a high prey drive, dashing after squirrels and cats in the trees or along the top of the fence. She needs leash training as she gets frustrated and reactive when on leash.  However, in the home and fenced in backyard, Delta does well with other dogs and people. IDEAL HOME for Delta: a home with a fenced-in yard; be an only dog, adopted with Colt, or possibly adopted in a home with a small submissive senior dog; teenagers or just adults in the home; someone willing to work with training her on her leash behavior; and room to run and play fetch in a secured fenced in yard.  If interested in adopting Delta, please go to https://www.sainrescue.org/contact-us/adoption-application/ and complete the adoption application. You will get a message stating the application was successfully submitted when it is. We can set up a private meeting after we receive a completed application. Adopters must live in the State of Illinois and preferably within 50-60 miles of Bartlett.
